About

Michael Horne owns and operates Grotto Music Productions from Atlanta, Ga, USA. He has had extensive experience in many aspects of the music industry over the years.

Michael started performing professionally at 18 years old as a guitar player and singer for a touring electronic duo. During that time, music programming was in its infancy. Michael was able to learn with some of the finest programmers and audio engineers at the time and continues to hone his skills today.

In 1993, Michael moved to New York to study music therapy. While in NY, he became the vocalist and co-writer for the progressive rock band Schrodinger’s Cat, a member of the acappella group Kairos, and performed in several orchestral choirs in the Hudson Valley region of New York state. While in school at SUNY New Paltz, he learned orchestration and became deeply interested in orchestral music and the use of music therapy techniques in film music. Throughout this period, he studied audio mixing and film scoring as a passion.

The new millennia brought Michael to Los Angeles, California. He continued to study audio mixing and mastering trying to hone his skills in these areas while composing orchestral/film and rock/pop music.

Now located in Atlanta, Ga, he opened Grotto Music Productions to fulfill his dream of owning and operating a fully functional audio studio. Michael is a music and audio geek and loves to “nerd out with the best of ‘em” on these topics. Also, if you enjoy a good laugh, pork, steamers and a nice Gentleman Jack, you will no doubt soon grow to be good friends!
